I learned on the XS400 for a summer, still have them all. Get something to learn on that's cheap because you'll drop it within a couple months, happens to just about everyone when they first ride. Then take a class and buy something decent once your comfortable. No sense in wadding up a nice bike and yourself at the same time. Just remember sport bikes have a sick power to weight ratio, R6 only weighs 375 dry and has 100 hp at the wheel. Not exactly a beginner's bike.
